Okay, so I know that a lot of people despise these films because of the obsession some girls (and boys) have developed. I enjoy both the films and the books, but I’m not obsessed and I don’t think that Edward Cullen is at all real.
Anyway, the film New Moon does the book a lot of justice. Unlike the first one, Twilight, this film keeps to the book rather well, despite skimming over some sections, but it is difficult to squash a whole book into one little film. There were a couple of things that were added in, but I didn’t think that this mattered as it seemed to work for the film and wouldn’t have worked if they had used the ideas in the book.
One thing that I would say about it, though, is the scene where Edward breaks up with Bella I felt should have brought a tear to my eye, but it didn’t. In the book it was beautifully written, but for me the scene in the movie just wasn’t intense enough. I know that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are both fabulous actors and very suited to the parts, but I just didn’t feel much chemistry in this scene.
I have grown a dislike for the character Bella when reading and watching New Moon because she uses Jacob for her own benefit and to make her feel better, but he gets nothing but a broken heart in return. This, I think is ingenious as it shows that nobody is perfect and you can have a heroine that people don’t particularly like.
Definitely a good film, but if you don’t like the saga because of screaming girls, don’t go see it. Enjoy 🙂
